QuickTC v1.3.1 - TC Design for beginners (Files updated Feb. 17, 2007)
This program was written as a compromise to other programs I had tried off the Internet. What I found was other programs were too complex for a beginner, too incomplete, or error prone.
As for error prone, it has been tested (the Beta versions) by myself and Tesla List members and believe it to be problem free.
It was written for bottom up design in that most beginners (I suspect) will get their transformer and coil form first. Included are some unique features I have not seen in other programs and implemented after finding myself chasing back and forth for needed information for the design. Some of the features of this program are:
- No lookup tables needed - all calculations normally requiring a lookup
table have been replaced with fitting equations generated from tables I
obtained off the Internet except for the wiring size guide.
- Metric/English units
- Secondary designer with recommended aspect ratios
- Toroid calculator with lengths calculated for cutting flexible aluminum duct
- MMC (with life expectancy) and Plate Cap designer (accommodates LTR design and resonant)
- Primary designer including standoff spacers & drill guide & secondary/primary ratio
- Tap point on primary supplies the turn and the number of degrees in on the turn for more precise initial tuning. Eg. Turn #14 336 degrees in.
- Static spark/safety gap calculator using Paschen's equations
- Commercial wiring size tables & space winding options
- Ability to e-mail your design directly from within the program
- Save and/or print your design
- .ini file to store your last parameters automatically
Things needed to add:
1. Help file!
2. Total secondary wire weight (lbs/kg)
3. ASRSG/SRSG/TSG routines
Thanks to:
Kevin Wilson for his suggested additions
Terry Fritz for his source code on MMCalc whose algorithms I copied
Bert Pool for his Toroid equations
Tesla List members for the enormous amount of information made readily available
